TEAC PE505B Reference 500 Series Phono Preamplifier - Black (PE505B)

TEAC PE505B Reference 500 Series Phono Preamplifier - Black

Dual-Monaural, Fully-Balanced Input/Output Circuit Design Phono Equalizing Amplifier

The PE505B is a phono equalising amplifier that supports balanced MC input and has dual monaural and completely balanced input/output circuitry. By relying on TEAC's expertise in audio technology and concentrating on recording and playback, the PE505B was developed with the aim of faithfully recreating the original purpose of the recording producers. To retain the listener as close to the original sound that was played before it was recorded on the master disc, the PE505B will faithfully provide even extremely faint audio signals that were picked up by the cartridge, amplify them, process them without coloration, and then deliver them. Both the DECCA and COLUMBIA curves, as well as the high precision RIAA correction circuit are supported. Additionally, there are features that let users adjust the settings for the type of cartridge being used and the state of the record, including adjustable load resistance for MC cartridges and load capacity for MM cartridges.

Circuit Design That Is Fully Balanced

The PE505B uses a fully balanced circuit design throughout all stages, from the head amplifier to the equalising amplifier sections to the buffer amplifier section on the final output stage. This amplifies, equalises, and maintains signal purity of even the extremely faint audio signals picked up by a cartridge. Right after the input terminals, the normal RCA input converts even unbalanced signals to differential processing mode.

On The Differential Cartridge Output There Is An Equalizing Circuit

The differential output equalising circuit produces a more precise audio signal by absorbing faults on the balanced output. Cross-multiplication of the hot and cold outputs by the differential output circuit. As a result, both signals are equalised to give an audio signal that is clean and realistic.

RIAA Circuit With High Precision

A newly formed NF-type equalising amplifier in the PE505B achieves RIAA deviation of less than 0.05dB. (20 Hz–20 kHz)

Increased Signal-to-Noise Ratio

The PE505B achieves advanced residual noise voltages of 10 volts on the MM and 85 volts on the MC*3 while achieving 106 dB on the RCA input*1 and 86 dB on the XLR input*2.

HIGH EQ Curves With Precision

Individual curves on monaural records from DECCA and COLUMBIA released before the RIAA curve was developed in 1955 are supported in addition to the current RIAA curve.

Multiple Options And Special Measuring Features

For MM cartridges, the PE505B has switchable load-capacity and for MC cartridges, it has switchable load-resistance. Additionally, by pressing the MEASURE key on the front panel, users can utilise the load-resistance measuring function to display the entire load-resistance value, including cable resistance, on the gauge by choosing the suitable load-resistance. Additionally, the subsonic filter (17Hz, -24dB/octave) removes unneeded low frequency from the audible range while the subsonic function displays subsonic signals less than 6Hz on the gauge.

DEMAG Capability To Replace The Cartridges

When using the quick demagnetize feature, a vinyl record in the DEMAG position can be played back for as little as 30 seconds to demagnetize both the step-up transformer and the magnetised iron core of MC cartridges.
